As a young boy, I spent a lot of my time in a place called Dryhollow. I always looked forward to the beginning of springtime out in the country. The sounds of the birds and the smells of a new beginning seemed to excite me. I was as close to nature as I could get and I loved it.
I developed a passion for nature photography several years ago. I had no real training in photography, so I bought me an inexpensive CoolPix camera and began shooting every subject of nature I could find. It didn’t take me long to understand that nature photography is all about the lines, shapes and finding depth with the lighting.
Getting involved with nature photography gives me a break from the everyday stresses of life and living. Even if I only have the chance to get a few shots at a local park or recreation area, I can return home feeling refreshed.
My desire to photograph different wonders of nature often takes me to places I have never ventured to before. I have enjoyed the experience of getting up at 4:00 a.m. in the Florida Keys and capturing some of the most amazing sunrises on the face of this earth. My sanity has been questioned when I laid down within 3 feet of a 14-foot alligator in the Florida Everglades.
